Practice I : Video

Ok, lots of work done by now.

When I first started the career, I thought that making myself a planning of 7-8 daily hours would be enough to follow the rythm of study and deliver all the works and practices on time.

Of course, I was wrong.

Maybe I'm too perfectionist? Surely I am. I need to read and understand every matter deeply and do a hard work on it, not to have just a quick look and do a fast work to pass the matter. If I'll do so, it wouldn't be me! ;)

Here I leave you the Practice I of the Video matter, where we have to choose one of the 5 senses, make a story around it, film different kind of shots (close-up, pan shots, etc) and build a sequence of 45 seconds maximum with Adobe Premiere Pro.

I would thank specially my friend Jessica, for being my model in this first work.

Hope you like it!

Graphic Design Practice I : Use of digital images, autor's rights and intelectual property

The first days are being quite confusing... the UOC, is a distance-learning university, you have online colleagues, online teachers, and online homeworks... I'm used to assist to presential  classes, so at first is a bit stressing to be alone at home, trying to process and classify the tons of information that you receive... what's more important? where should I begin first?

After a few days of messy disaster, I've decided to start with the first project of the Graphic Design matter. We have a practice called "Use of digital images, autor's rights and intelectual property". WTF! That sounds to me like Chinese!

After reading hundreds of pages and leaving 2 markers empty, I start to understand what I have to do (or at least I think so).

I have to take 2 images that are under a license that allow me to do a derivate artwork, and that at the same time are compatible between them, make this derivate work with Fireworks CS5, and specify the corresponding derivate license, of course mentioning the fonts of the original images.

So, I've taken one image with a cc 2.5 by license, another one with a cc 2.5 by-nc-sa, in order to get a derivate license cc 2.5 by-nc-sa. This is the resulting license because you have to apply the more restrictive license of the two originals, and also because a characteristic of the by-nc-sa is that any resulting work of an image under this license has to be under the same one.

Here's the first image with license by, called "Bellu_Book_0187" which belongs to Hamner_fotos and has been found at Flickr:

Below you will find the second image, called "365/13 Rain", which belongs to Sunjaec and also found at Flickr:

And finally, after a few hours of hard work, this is the resulting derivate image, called "Citylights Freedom", under license by-nc-sa, by me:

This was the creation process with Fireworks CS5:

 -  I have cut the Image 1's background and modified the image size, also change the position of the girl to the left side, adjusting the shade and saturation in the model's skin, with the intention to simulate the reflection of disco lights and wanting in the same time to unify the Image 1 with the colours range of Image 2.

- Then turned the position of Image 2 (by-nc-sa), changed the size and take it out of focus with a radial effect (quantity 10, quality 22) in order to accent the movement sensation to unificate image 2 with image 1.

- I left the low part of the right corner in white, to insert the text of the image title to let it be clear, and used the font Stereofidelic size 55 bold applying a chrome style, because I think that this font communicates the freedom sensation that I was searching to reflect on this artwork, and also has a modern and cosmopolite touch, and finally the chromed effect gives it a refined finish.

Hey, it's not that bad for being my first attempt, right?? :D
